Increased Network Capacity

By distributing the signal load more effectively, DAS enhances network capacity, accommodating more users without compromising on performance, especially in high-density areas.

Future-Proofed Technology

DAS infrastructure can be easily upgraded to support new technologies and frequency bands, ensuring long-term value and compatibility with future network requirements.

Enhanced User Experience

Consistent signal quality, reducing dropped calls, and improving data speeds, thereby enhancing overall user satisfaction and productivity.

How We Work

Survey & Assessment

Conduct a thorough site survey to evaluate the current cellular signal strength, identify coverage gaps, and understand the specific requirements of the client’s facility. We will then provide a detailed site assessment report outlining the areas needing improvement, client requirements, and initial design considerations.

Design

Develop a customized DAS design based on the site survey, including the selection of appropriate equipment, determining optimal antenna locations, and designing the network layout.

Installation & Configuration

Install the DAS equipment, including antennas, cabling, and signal boosters, at the designated locations within the facility. Configure the system to ensure optimal signal distribution and integration with the existing infrastructure.

Post-Validation

Perform comprehensive testing to validate the performance, reliability, and coverage of the DAS solution. Optimize the system based on test results and feedback. Provide training to the client's IT staff on system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

The Process of Implementing Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS)

In-building distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) have become a critical part of both carrier cellular networks and enterprise infrastructure. But as the technology has evolved over the last 20 years it has become increasingly complex. We here at WZC Networking offer custom solutions aimed at crafting the perfect plan for your DAS & Cellular systems.

A DAS is a network of antennas that sends and receives cellular signals on a carrier’s licensed frequencies, thereby improving voice and data connectivity for end-users.

In its most simplified form, a DAS has two basic components:

1

A Signal Source: A Distributed Antenna System, as the name implies, “distributes” signal. But it generally doesn’t generate the cellular signal itself. A DAS needs to be fed signal from somewhere. Whether it's 4G LTE or 5G, there are four typical signal sources: off-air (via an antenna on the roof), an on-site BTS (Base Transceiver Station), and finally the newest approach: small cells.

2

Distribution System: Once received, the cellular signal must be distributed throughout the building. There are four main types of distribution systems: active (using fiber optic or Ethernet cable), passive, hybrid, and digital.

FAQs

What is a Distributed Antenna System (DAS)?

A DAS is a network of spatially separated antenna nodes connected to a common source that provides wireless service within a building orarea.

What types of buildings or environments benefit most from DAS?

DAS is particularly beneficial for large buildings, such as hospitals, office complexes, airports, stadiums, and shopping malls, as well as any area with poor cellular reception. It is also crucial for environments where reliable communication is essential, such as emergency response facilities and industrial sites.

How long does it take to install a DAS?

The installation timeline varies based on the building's size and complexity but typically ranges from a few weeks to several months.

What are the steps involved in installing a DAS?

Installation typically involves site assessment, system design, securing necessary approvals, physical installation of components, system testing, and commissioning.

What are the maintenance requirements for a DAS?

Regular maintenance includes system checks, performance monitoring, and periodic updates to ensure optimal functionality and compliance.

What is the difference between DAS and traditional wireless network solutions?

Traditional wireless network solutions, such as Wi-Fi, rely on access points to provide coverage, which can be limited in range and affected by physical obstacles. DAS, on the other hand, uses a network of antennas to ensure comprehensive and consistent coverage, making it more effective in large or complex environments where signal strength is often compromised.

Is DAS compatible with all wireless carriers?

Yes, DAS can be designed to support multiple wireless carriers simultaneously or only one depending on the client's needs. This means that users of different cellular providers can benefit from improved coverage within the same building or area, making it a versatile solution for multi-tenant buildings and public spaces.

Can DAS support other wireless technologies besides cellular?

Yes, DAS can support various wireless technologies, including public safety communication systems, Wi-Fi, and private radio networks. This versatility makes DAS a comprehensive solution for improving overall wireless connectivity within a facility.

How much does a DAS solution cost?

The cost of a DAS solution varies based on several factors, including the size of the area, the complexity of the installation, and the specific requirements of the client. WZC Networking offers customized solutions and works closely with clients to provide accurate cost estimates and ensure the best value for their investment.
